Quintais is only retired from playing in the World Championships. He continues to play in all the French Championships--he just won the triples again--the Masters, and other biggies like the Marseillaise, Millau, etc.
His club is Nice DUC. I met him in Thailand last year. He doesn't speak English.

New Zealand had the pleasure of Quintais, Suchaud and Rocher visit us in February 2008 (see our website www.petanquenz.com - although I didn't personally get to know them, the kiwi's who did host them found all 3 to be a pleasure knowing. Suchaud and Rocher had very little English, but by all accounts Quintais had a very good grasp of English and an excellent sense of humour. How did NZ get such esteemed Petanque company? Courtesy of Victor Nataf the French coach who we met in Melbourne Australia at a Trans-Tasman Tournament (NZ vs Australia) where Victor and Claude Raouley (sp?) were running a coaching session with the Aussie and kiwi coaches. Dinner with Victor & Claude and the oil of vino led to the wonderful experience of having international petanque champions at our shores.
