My wife and I have a house on the corner of a farm overlooking the pretty hamlet of Blanzaguet in the Charente (16) department in France. When we want to play boules or petanque we walk the 400 m into hamlet to the grounds of the old 16C Chateau that are now open to the public and have been converted into an arboretum.
We play on the gravel paths just below the old chateau and adjacent to the area which can be hired out for functions and weddings.
It is a supuerb setting with lovely views, grass for picnics, a loo and the odd hope that Rapunzel will let down her hair or that we will have to storm the tower to free the maiden. However, I don't think she will be too impressed by the standard of play going on below here and may wish to remain in her prison.
